Need for chocolate dessert overwhelmed me on my last visit to Albuquerque. So I decided to take the bus downtown to check out the Gold Rush.

I did have a little trouble locating the cupcake bakery. Please be sure you make note of the address so you don't waste time wandering around!

Finally, I broke down and asked a pedestrian who expertly directed me right to it.

I arrived during the lunch rush. It was a very busy place! Hmmm...always a good sign.

Thru the throng I was just able to spot the cupcake display from the line I had joined. The WRONG line, of course.

Once I reached the display case, I realized I had a new dilemma. Choice! So many tasty looking tiny cakes to choose from.

After all the effort to get to those cupcakes, I had to pick carefully! So I asked a lot of questions.

Fortunately, the polite staff member took the time to answer all my questions.

And after a mere 10 minutes my mind was made up.

I chose a (2)Red Butler, (2)Mother Lode, a Mint Condition and a White Wedding.

Many hours(and miles)later, we had a tasting. My sister, mom and me devoured them.

They were delicious! The cakes were fresh and attractively decorated. Loved the chocolate frosting.

Heck, even the vanilla one was good. High praise from an avowed chocoholic!


These cupcakes were well worth the trip! Reckon I'll be wondering by there again next time I visit ABQ.
