Low fat milk chocolate was compared to other recovery drinks. Turns out it helps you bounce back faster after a strenuous work out.
Why? Low fat chocolate milk has a good proportion of carbohydrate to protein. It gives your muscles what they need to recover, but you have to drink it with in 30 minutes of exercising.
Skim milk and regular milk do not have the right ratio.
Carbohydrate recovery drinks lack the protein your muscles need.
Study participants who drank the low fat milk experienced...
- twice the improvement in maximal oxygen uptake
- added more muscle
- and lost more fat
