Kraft's dark chocolate spread, Philadelphia Indulgence, is made with Belgian chocolate.

Philidelphia Indulgence dark chocolate spread.

It's a dark and flavorful way to start your day. Or end it, depending upon what you use it on.

If you like cream cheese and chocolate you have to try it.

Well, I had to. Maybe my dark chocolate review will convince you...or not.

Why Try?

Because it's made with Belgian chocolate and cocoa! It smells so gooood. It's rich and dreamy creamy dark chocolate you can spread.

Who doesn't want more ways to enjoy bittersweet morning, noon or night? This versatile spread will help you achieve that goal.

Try this treat in the morning or any time. Spread some on a warm bagel, half or whole.

Oh, now that is awesome. Tastes almost as delicious as a chocolate covered donut!

Speaking of donuts, better go with half a bagel and a light coating of Philadelphia Indulgence!

An entire bagel with a full serving of spread adds up to as many calories and half as much fat as a similar sized plain donut (source-http://ndep.nih.gov/media/GP_FatCal.pdf).

Just saying.

Here's another great anytime use for this spread.

Frost a cake with it. It makes a quick cream cheese icing. All you have to do is stir and spread!

I'm sure you can think of more. Like maybe a smooth chocolatey dip for fruit or plain cookies?

This chocolate spread is tasty but it's not exactly brimming with health benefits. You probably already guessed that.

Here come the facts anyway...

Nutrition Facts Chocolate Spread

Let's take a peek at the back of the Philadelphia Indulgence chocolate spread container.

Will the facts take all the fun out of eating this stuff? Maybe.

The carton tells me that a serving is about 35g or 1/6th of the container with...

  • Calories 110
  • Total fat-7g (4g saturated and 0g trans fat)
  • Cholesterol-10mg
  • Sodium-75mg
  • Total carb-12g
  • Dietary fiber-1g
  • Sugar-10g
  • Protein-1g
  • Vitamin A-4
  • Calcium-2

Those figures are based on a 2,000 calorie per day diet.

Well, let's see. On the positive side, we've got a little fiber, protein, Vitamin A and calcium coming our way.

But on the negative side, we've got a fair amount of calories and fat. Plus a little cholesterol, sodium and sugar thrown in.

What about the facts for the other two versions of the spread? The milk and white chocolate versions have twice as much calcium per serving but no fiber.

Plus they have slightly more cholesterol and sodium. And white chocolate has 10 more calories per serving.

What about the health benefits of the dark chocolate? Well, it's made with two types of chocolate but unfortunately they've both been alkalized.

So a lot, but not all, of those health benefit bringing antioxidants have been destroyed. But maybe there are enough survivors to carry on.

Ok, it's probably alright for most of us to indulge in it occasionally. You know what you can afford to eat, so the rest is up to you!

Philadelphia Indulgence chocolate spread is aptly named. It's a great way to pamper yourself. Enjoy, but heed this warning! Be sure to maintain control of this bittersweet treat so you'll still be able to see your feet.
