Health Benefits

This tasty cookie recipe blends dark chocolate health benefits with oatmeal's.

The result? Possibly a slight reduction in your risk for developing heart disease or diabetes.

Dr. Arnold Wald's article, Patient information: High Fiber Diet (reprinted on Medline) states that soluble fiber like that found in oats may...

  • cut your risk of developing coronary artery disease
  • reduce your risk of stroke by 40 to 50%
  • make you less likely to develop type 2 diabetes

Besides soluble fiber oatmeal adds protein, potassium and iron.

No that doesn't make these cookies a health food. But it does make them a little healthier.

The traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe is delicious. But these are more nutritious.

So enough chatter time to make the batter! Ok it's really dough, I know.

In a medium mixing bowl beat the margarine and sugars together until creamy.

Add vanilla, salt, baking soda and eggs, mix well.

Blend in the flour and oats. Scrape the bowl and mix another 30 seconds.

Add 1 bag of your favorite chocolate chips. Or whatever amount you wish. Mix about 30 seconds.
